50 never looked so good; help us celebrate in 2008
If you still slip and refer to "Columbus College," you're especially invited to join us at the kickoff event of CSU's 50th anniversary celebration on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008. Many of that day's events, starting at 11 a.m., will be at the Thomas Y. Whitley Clock Tower.  And folks who remember Whitley, our first president, are especially welcome at this kickoff.    more >

Committees working to find CSU's next leader
CSU also faces in 2008 the daunting prospect of replacing longtime President Frank D. Brown, who announced he will retire June 30, 2008. A local advisory group will screen candidates and make recommendations to a University System of Georgia Board of Regents' committee. Dr. Brown is expected to remain in the Columbus area and aid in a smooth transition.    more >

Art lovers, start saving up for annual Alumni Association gala
CSU's Alumni Association has announced plans for its annual Gala Art Exhibit and Auction on Friday, Jan. 25, 2008 at the Cunningham Center. Arrive early for hors d'oeuvres, wine and cheese at the 7 p.m. preview and stay for the 8 p.m. auction. For $10 tickets or information, call 706-568-2280. If you can't make it, visit Marlin Fundraising online, enter code 53020004 and the association will still reap benefits.

Warm up this winter with hot CSU basketball action
Hot on the heels of a successful fall for CSU athletics, we expect wild basketball action at the Lumpkin Center. After a month on the road, the Cougars and the Lady Cougars host six conference opponents North Georgia, USC Aiken, Georgia Southwestern, Armstrong Atlantic State, UNC Pembroke and George College in a series of doubleheaders during January that are a bargain for hoops-hungry fans.      more >

Happy holidays to everyone in the Columbus State family
As is becoming tradition, CSU rang in the season with a sixth successful Lunch with Santa event, co-sponsored by the Alumni Association and the Theatre Department. Although many here take time off as the year winds down, we'll still be able to process last-minute, tax-deductible donations. Call 706-562-1596, donate online or drop by Advancement offices in Richards Hall on Dec. 31, when we'll be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Learn more about the benefits of year-end giving.

Please forward this to your CSU friends and ask them to update their info so we can make sure theyre on our e-mail list!
