CSU's week of homecoming activities has students busy, and alumni and friends get to join in the fun this weekend, Feb. 2-3, with a full slate of activities, including the traditional bonfire, old-timers game, alumni brunch and Silver C induction, as well as the alumni reception between Saturday's men's and women's basketball games. Tennis and a season-opening baseball doubleheader are also on tap. more >


 

 

Guitar FestivalNew York Times features CSU as a guitar festival destination

Don't believe us when we tell you it's a great time visit CSU? Then how about taking the advice of the New York Times. CSU's annual guitar symposium gets spotlight attention in the Times' recent roundup on guitar festivals that are sure to ward off the winter blues. Calling all Cougars; students working phones for university's future
Don't be surprised if you get a call soon from a CSU student asking for your financial support of the university during our 2006-2007 Annual Fund drive. Dozens of students will spend their evenings calling as part of our spring phonathon. This year, for the first time, friends of CSU can use our secure, online giving page and make your donation with a credit card. Students enjoy more classes at CSU RiverPark campus

CSU has had a strong presence in downtown Columbus since the Schwob School of Music moved into the RiverCenter in 2001, but this school year marks a new chapter in CSU history with the opening of several new buildings on the CSU RiverPark campus. Students moved into new apartment buildings in the fall and, with the start of spring classes on Jan. 8, inaugurated the new art and theatre complex, among other buildings. more >

  • The Black Applause Banquet, a longtime CSU Black History Month tradition.

  • "The Gravedigger's Tango," a mystery drama being staged by the theatre department.
  •  

  • Guest lectures by Jerusalem professor Shalom Paul, noted authority on the Dead Sea scrolls; Minnijean Brown Trickey, part of the "Little Rock Nine" who desegregated Central High School and made history; and Kimberly Oliver, the National Teacher of the Year.
  • St. Louis Brass
  • Schwob School of Music concerts featuring its own CSU Philharmonic, Wind Symphony and Earl Coleman; visiting artists including the St. Louis Brass (right), organist Stefan Engels and percussionist Michael Lipsey. Plus, the CSU Jazz Band, Jazz Combo and Faculty Jazz Ensemble pay tribute to Duke Ellington.
  • Baseball action against Auburn-Montgomery, basketball action against Armstrong Atlantic State; softball action against USC-Aiken; and tennis action against Freed-Hardeman, USC Upstate, West Florida and Clayton State.
  • Carson McCullers' 90th Birthday Celebration, featuring performances, art, music and more.
  • A Gospel Extravaganza, another popular Black History Month tradition.
  • And the second annual Hispanic-Latino Youth College Conference, helping educate parents as well as prospective students.
